Biography
Alain Richard is known for his large scale, beautiful photographs of natural landscapes. His photographs depict starry nights, the Moon, the sea, mountains and volcanic craters, the Universe that surrounds us. They are void of human presence and there is no narrative. The viewer is urged to be lost in time and space. Born in 1968 Alain Richard finished his art degree at IATA/Institut des Arts Techniques Siences et Artisanats/ in Namur , Belgium.
After graduation he focused on fashion photography and while very young he worked with the industry’s best known photographers in Paris, France. At 26 he built his first professional photography studio and embarked on a very successful career as fashion photographer. Professionally, Alain’s work was published in Vogue/American and French/, ELLE, W, Marie-Claire and many others
While traveling for various photoshoots, Alain started taking his first quite accomplished photographs of the Moon and the stars. Often working alone , in the middle of the night at isolated places in Chile, Alain was fascinated with the beauty of the Earth which led to a full time occupation as a fine art photographer. Today, Alain Richard photographs have been exhibited widely through out the world, from NYC to Eastern Europe and Asia and enjoys a successful career.
