BILIA TABLE LAMP BY GIO PONTI

Giovanni “Gio” Ponti, (Milan, November 18, 1891 – Milan, September 16, 1979), is one of the Italian masters of architecture. He was also a designer and essayist and one of the most important of the twentieth century. Other than the great architectural works which carry his unmistakable signature, he created a vast amount of work in the furniture sector. This is demonstrated in his three Milanese houses which were fully furnished in the “Ponti” style. The houses in via Randaccio, 1925, Casa Laporte in via Brin, 1926 and the last in via Dezza, in 1957 is an “expression” of his home design ideas.

LAMP LUTZ BY PIERRE DUBOURG

ROBIE WALL LAMP BY FRANK LLOYD WRIGHT

robie_wall_lamp

The original design for this Frank Lloyd Wright wall sconce lighting was for the interior of the Fredrick C. Robie House (1908) in Chicago, Illinois. Lighting always played an important role of Wright’s architectural schemes. Wright would often incorporate wall sconce lamps that followed motifs of the interior theme. The form of these sconces is a sphere framed by a cross, framed by a square.

MELT PENDANT COPPER BY TOM DIXON

IMG_1188

Tom Dixon’s intriguing Melt pendant light was designed in collaboration with the Swedish design collective FRONT. When turned off, Melt has a lustrous mirror finish and the uneven surface reflects light in the most exciting way. Only when turned on or in full daylight the pendant turns translucent and creates an illusion of hot melting glass. A group of Melt lights is a true showstopper, but also a single pendant will function as a captivating décor item.

HEXAGONAL TABLE LAMP BY JULES WABBES

Table lamp, hexagonal raw bronze leg, paper shade. This lamp was created in the early 60s, inspired by a stone model of the Dunbar collection designed by Edward J. Wormley in 1959.

Jules Wabbes reinterpreted this classic model. The lampshade is simply held by three notched metal rods. The first copies made of travertine were produced by Mobilier Universel. They were later made of metal and distributed by GEDE in 1969.

There are many fakes of this model (larger or with flared foot) designed after the death of Jules Wabbes. The model here presented and currently manufactured by GEDE is the only original one.
